Junior Fiction

Cross, Gillian

Jason Banks and the pumpkin of doom

£ 5.99

Positive tale about bullying and friendship that is both accessible and relevant. Illustrations are well matched. Good, both as a quick read or for HiLo or reluctant readers.

Remington, Laurel

The polka dot shop

£ 6.99

A sweet story of friendship, love and determination that handles many issues sensitively and contains some beautiful poignant moments. A really lovely read.

Teen fiction

Wood, Laura

A sky painted gold

£ 7.99

A gloriously atmospheric & memorable coming of age story – the late 1920’s setting is so well drawn & the banter between the two leads crackles with sexual tension. Just wonderful.

Harcourt, Maggie

£ 7.99

Loved the characterisation of the young girl heroine, you just can’t help but ‘hope’ all will end well for her. The Hollywood legend angle is a little far-fetched, but a safe young teen novel.

Griffin, Martin

£ 7.99

Solid thriller with a strong political edge. Offers the reader food for thought without sacrificing pace & premise has great pick up appeal. Worth having.

Non fiction

Brooks, Felicity

All about families

£ 9.99

A delightful book with lovely clear illustrations, that is also very PC! A good volume to support PHSE curriculum.
