In partnership with Simon & Schuster Children's Books, the Summer of Skandar Reading Challenge is a ready-to-run summer reading programme for primary schools, designed to help teachers, educators and librarians inspire a love of reading and keep children engaged with books throughout the summer holidays.
Built around A.F. Steadman's bestselling Skandar series, the challenge immerses pupils in a magical reading adventure through downloadable activities, discussion resources and exclusive content. Designed to motivate children to keep reading over the summer break, it encourages them to explore the world of Skandar, share their experiences with classmates and return to school excited to talk about books.

What you will receive
Every participating school will receive a digital Summer of Skandar Reading Challenge pack and assets, including:
- Email link to videos with A.F. Steadman introducing the challenge and the world of Skandar
- An elemental personality quiz (video and PDF activity sheet) to launch the challenge before the summer holidays
- Printable materials to encourage participation throughout the summer including reading and activity resources inspired by the Skandar books
The challenge is designed to be easy for teachers to launch before the summer break, with pupils completing their reading and activities independently over the holidays.
Please note: this is not an online reading platform or scored competition. Activities are provided as downloadable resources for schools and pupils to use at their own pace.
