No, they are not related. Book Band reading schemes calculate book complexity through text samples. Accelerated Reader analyses vocabulary, and the complexity of the whole book.

Accelerated Reader motivates students to read more by allowing them to select books based on their interests. Students improve reading skills through reading, quizzes and feedback.
