Love Literacy 2019 is set to be jam-packed full of practical and inspirational speakers and workshops, aimed at those working to encourage reading for pleasure and raise literacy standards.
Confirmed speakers include:
Catherine Boulton – head of Schools Business Development at National Literacy Trust
Neill Cameron – cartoonist and writer, his works include The Pirates of Pangaea, Mega Robo Bros and Mo-Bot High
Lauren Child – award-winning writer and artist, creator of characters including Clarice Bean and Charlie and Lola, and current UK Children’s Laureate
Jim Field and Rachel Bright – two award-winning illustrators, Jim is the creator of the best-selling ‘Oi!’ series and Rachel has an ever-growing collection of acclaimed picture books, including The Squirrels Who Squabbled. Both Rachel and Jim worked together for The Koala Who Could
Neil Griffiths – children’s author, former Head Teacher, inspirational trainer and creator of the Storysacks
Laura Lodge – literary specialist at One Education who provides training, support and development of the English national curriculum to schools
Miranda McKearney OBE – founder of The Reading Agency and now EmpathyLab, the new social action programme seeking to change children’s lives by developing empathy through reading
Nick Poole – CEO of CILIP, the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals
Chris Riddell – illustrator and writer of children’s books, winner of three Kate Greenaway Medals and former UK Children’s Laureate
Jonny Rodgers – primary advisory teacher at CLPE, Centre for Literacy in Primary Education
Alison Tarrant – Director of the School Library Association; School Librarian of the Year Award 2016: Honour List 2016
Sonia Thompson – Deputy Headteacher at St. Matthew’s C of E Primary School in Birmingham, winner of the 2018 Egmont/UKLA Whole School Reading for Pleasure Award.
