With a new National Literacy Trust (NLT) survey showing that one in five children between the ages of five and eight do not own a book of their own, it is more important than ever to ensure that children have access to informative, inspiring books. There are over 100 BooksForTopics packs to choose from, so there's something for everyone, from reluctant readers to pupils eagerly awaiting the next new release.
Books are selected by BooksForTopics’ team of experts based on quality, classroom suitability, and whether they’re effective for encouraging pupils to read for pleasure. BooksForTopics have a panel of 50 reviewers from across the primary education community, so are able to try out new books in a variety of school settings before including them in their reading schemes for schools. This means that they are only recommending the most suitable books for your classrooms, which is fantastic for time-poor teachers who don't get chance to read titles themselves.
To put it simply: all sorts! Immerse pupils in a world where monsters and mortals collide with the Ancient Greeks pack for Key Stage 2, or transport them back to prehistoric times with Stone Age to Iron Age. The Recommended Reads packs feature the best new titles to get pupils hooked on reading, while the Branching Out packs encourage readers to find new favourites after a particular author or series, including Harry Potter, Wimpy Kid and Rainbow Magic.
Amongst the packs, you'll find poetry, graphic novels, junior fiction, picture books and more.
It’s wonderful to see so many schools putting reading for pleasure at the heart of learning and displaying their new books centrally in their library or classroom. Here are just a few of the posts from across our Twitter and Instagram channels.
Your comments are important to us, so if there are any book packs you feel would be particularly helpful for primary schools, please feel free to submit your ideas to hello@peters.co.uk.
