Operations Assistant

Salary: £9.50 per hour, rising to £10.30 with productivity bonuses (Temp to Perm)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Peters are recruiting Operations Assistants to join our production team in our distribution centre in Birmingham city centre

In this role you will:

• Label books for use in schools and libraries across the UK. Applying labels, barcodes and RFIDS according to detailed written instructions.
• Fit plastic book covers to paperback and hardback books to protect them from damage and increase their life span.
• Use in house software to track work and to produce invoices and address labels for delivery to customers.

You will need:

• Accuracy and attention to detail – it is important that every label is in the correct place and exactly matches the book being processed
• A good standard of written and spoken English – it is important that you can follow the training you will receive and also the written instructions for each batch of work
• Speed and determination – our existing team have very high standards of productivity
• Focus and concentration – the requirements of our customers are complex and varied

Flexible working:

In addition to working in our production team you may be asked to work flexibly in other roles in our distribution centre (and eventually to specialise in those roles). You may be asked to:

• Pick customer orders from our warehouse
• Unpack and warehouse goods from our suppliers
• Pack and dispatch goods
• Work in our customer showroom
