10 Stories to Make a Difference

10 Stories to Make a Difference is a collection of ten brand new illustrated children’s stories, all inspired by the theme of ‘difference’, suitable for a range of ages from five to early teens.

The first commercial publishing venture from Pop Up Projects, 10 Stories contains collaborations between established and emerging writers and illustrators, giving platforms to bold new voices. 10 Stories reflects a collective desire for greater inclusion and representation in the industry - both in the content of the books (including characters of colour, disabled characters and LGBTQ+ themes related to transgender experience, same-sex union and coming out) and their creators, with an emphasis on nurturing and empowering under-represented voices.

The emerging voices – new writers and illustrators – were discovered through various Pop Up projects (Rising Stars, An International Illustration Exchange, The Rainbow Library) as well as through our first ever international children’s writing competition. The books have been edited by volunteers from several major publishers.
