Created in partnership with Encyclopaedia Britannica, What on Earth! magazine offers children a rich, immersive reading experience in printed form. Their mission is to ignite young readers’ natural curiosity about the world – and to help them fall in love with reading, knowledge and learning. Each issue is packed with amazing facts on topics they love, animals, space and nature to art, sport, history, machines and inventions – an inspiring oasis away from the demands of digital media. With children and young people’s reading enjoyment reported to be at its lowest in 20 years, engaging children with exciting, varied reading material that appeals to their interests is crucial – and non-fiction has an important role to play in developing reader identity. Recent research by Open University experts, led by Professor Teresa Cremin, identified What on Earth! Magazine as a powerful intervention for turning reluctant readers into confident readers. |

"At Peters we’re passionate about giving all children the opportunity to fall in love with reading, and we believe What on Earth! magazine will do just that. With the reported decline in reading enjoyment, it’s more important than ever that we help children and young people to find reading material that appeals to them – especially as we approach the National Year of Reading.”

“Nothing could be more important in today’s world than to ensure young people develop a love of learning through reading. Non-fiction is one of the most important pathways for children to develop the urge to want to learn to read, so they can discover more about what they are interested in. This partnership with Peters gives UK schools a unique chance to put a wonderful, printed magazine into the hands of individual children 10 times a year to help them unlock a joy of reading.”Christopher Lloyd, CEO at What on Earth! magazine |
