Peters partners with Cheltenham Festivals

We are delighted to announce our new partnership with Cheltenham Festivals on their 2021 Literature for Schools programme as well as the flagship Reading Teachers = Reading Pupils project, the national network of teachers' reading groups which is inspiring children to love reading.

Cheltenham Literature Festival, the world’s first literature festival, is 72 years old this year. It still leads the way in celebrating the written and spoken word, presenting the best new voices in fiction and poetry alongside literary greats and high-profile speakers, while inspiring over 9,000 school children with a love of books through its Literature for Schools programme.

Spanning the whole autumn term, Literature for Schools is packed with unique experiences set to inspire joy in reading and ignite creativity. 30 live events and workshops feature a raft of the most inspirational writers, poets and industry professionals. The fun will then continue post-Festival with a digital highlights programme available free on demand until 31 December, and as official book supplier we will be offering 28% off books online to all schools taking part throughout the autumn term. 

Peters will also be the official book supplier for Reading Teachers = Reading Pupils (RTRP), a national network of teachers’ reading groups which is inspiring children to love reading. Studies have shown that reading for pleasure is the biggest single indicator of a child’s future success, helping them experience high levels of well-being, engage in learning and be more successful in life. RTRP is making a difference through a network of reading teachers who are building communities of readers. From June 2021, Independent Reading Teachers = Reading Pupils groups will be created for the first time across UK.
