St Botolph's C E Primary School in Shepshed, Leicestershire currently have 300 pupils, but recently relocated to a former secondary school building with space for 630, in readiness for housing expansion in the area.
They wanted a new library space design with the 'wow factor', to celebrate a love of reading and show its importance by having the library as the focal point of the school. We created two new library spaces – central to the school – downstairs for EYFS/KS1 and upstairs for Key Stage 2. The project wasn't without its challenges, as the rooms are a glass column – no walls or flat sides!
The designers from our team worked around the school's requirements to create two unique and striking spaces – with an underwater ocean-theme for EYFS/KS1, and an outer space theme for Key Stage 2. A range of vibrant seating and bookshelves for a library were used to make the most of the spaces, and provide plenty of options for pupils!

The school are thrilled with their new library spaces and the grand opening of the new building was a huge success with parents and children overwhelmed at the spaces created.
