Lollies Award: 2016 shortlist announced

  The Lollies Award, or the Laugh Out Loud Book Award, was launched to celebrate the books that leave you and your students in fits of giggles. Catherine Bell, of Scholastic, explained "we launched the Lollies because we know that if children feel good about reading books, they'll read more." Well, that makes perfect sense to us! To highlight just how funny books can be, Lollies hired a number of top judges to review a variety of novels, from those that explored how boring parents are, to stories full of hilarious toilet humour. From an extensive list of side-splittingly funny tales, the judges managed to narrow it down to an impressive list of 12 books:

Thorfinn the Nicest Viking and the Awful Invasion, David MacPhail & Richard Morgan (Floris Books) 9. Danger is Still Everywhere: Beware of the Dog!, David O'Doherty & Chris Judge (Penguin Books) 10. The Parent Agency, David Baddiel & Jim Field (HarperCollins Publishers) 11. Petunia Perry and the Curse of the Ugly Pigeon, Pamela Butchart & Gemma Correll (Nosy Crow) 12. Emily Sparkes and the Friendship Fiasco, Ruth Fitzgerald (Hachette Children's Group)
