Inspired by scientific evidence showing that reading can boost real-life empathy skills, EmpathyLab are harnessing the power of stories with a powerful new book collection designed to build children's empathy.
We've partnered with the EmpathyLab team to release a collection of 30 empathy-building books, specially selected to strengthen children's ability to understand other people's feeling and perspectives. The pack is available for teachers, librarians and parents from today in the run up to Empathy Day on 12 June 2018, and is accompanied by a downloadable Read for Empathy guide containing top tips on using the empathy collection with your pupils.
Made up of thirteen novels, fourteen picture books, two graphic novels and one poetry book, the pack explores the topical themes of displacement and migration, as well as the experiences of children facing challenging circumstances including deafness, autism and bereavement.
