Vivacity’s brand new book bus arrives in Peterborough to boost children’s literacy

August 22nd 2018

Vivacity, the non-profit organisation running library services in Peterborough, have launched a brand-new book bus aimed at improving children’s literacy in the city.

The bus was launched at a special event at Fulbridge Academy on Friday 27th April 2018, attended by the Mayor of Peterborough (Councillor John Fox) and Peterborough’s MP (Fiona Onasanya) as well as representatives from educational and literacy institutions from around the country.

Designed by local children’s author and illustrator, Ellie Sandall (best known for the Everybunny series), the book bus is bright, colourful, and the perfect setting for primary school children to enjoy and immerse themselves in books and learning. The Vivacity book bus will be regularly visiting primary schools, local communities and partner organisations in the Peterborough area.

The book bus forms part of the Reading Vision for Peterborough - a collaboration between Vivacity, Peterborough City Council, and the National Literacy Trust to improve the literacy rates of children in Peterborough. The Vivacity book bus aims to achieve this by giving children a positive experience with stories, reading and libraries at an early age.

Peters were delighted to work with Vivacity to select and supply a substantial quantity of new stock for the book bus.
