Summary

A teenage girl gets a reputation as the school 'fixer' but her own life is spinning out of control fast.

When Aideen agrees to help ambitious class swot Maebh Kowalski deal with her crazy workload, she doesn't expect to end up reluctantly pushing Maebh down the stairs.
With this, Aideen becomes the school 'fixer': any problem a student has, Aideen will sort it out, from stealing confiscated mobiles to breaking into parties. All she asks for is a favour in return. But Aideen's own life is a mess - her mam's drinking again, her BFF Holly is avoiding her and she's skipping school. Spending more time with the uptight (but annoyingly cute) Maebh and chatterbox Kavi, Aideen starts to wonder: can every problem be solved?

Book of the week

Our rebellious sparky heroine is a joy and the story manages to avoid the usual cliches of high school stories, with unconventional characters, witty humour, lots of silly antics plus moments of searing emotion too.  Think Derry Girls but minus the nuns and with a preoccupation with sorting out everyone's nonsense for them, just for the sake of it....A really cracking read.

Content advisory

Occasional sexual references and strong language. Aideen struggles to cope with her alcoholic mother and frequently tries to assist her from relapsing and has to fend for herself at home. She is also a lesbian and forms a relationship with another character but this isn't the central focus of the story.
