A rabbit reads about wolves in a library book while being followed by a real wolf who ends up eating him.
Too many rabbits believe everything they read in fairy stories. A wolf's favourite food is NOT small girls in red hoods.
Use this book to find out:
Where wolves live
How many teeth they have
What they really like to eat
NOTE : One of the pages has a removable card, which is meant to be a library book card
NOTE : The rabbit is oblivious to the wolf and ends up being eaten. We don't see it happening but we simply see the library book cover with scores and tears and what looks like blood stains. The next page says 'The author would like to point out that no rabbits were eaten during the making of this book. It is a work of fiction. And so, for more sensitive readers, here is alternative ending'. Then we see the vegetarian wolf and rabbit sharing a jam sandwich. But the final spread says it all. It shows Rabbit's doormat littered with unopened letters that have been sent since his demise, including a letter from the library asking Rabbit to return the Wolves book as it is overdue.
NOTE : Winner of the Kate Greenaway Medal 2005
NOTE : Includes two cut-out pages at the back of the book with instructions for making a mini book - '10 Little Rabbits.'
