Summary
When 17-year-old Rico discovers that the unclaimed winning jackpot ticket was bought at the shop where she works, she sets about finding who the winner is.
Seventeen year old Rico splits her time outside school either looking after her younger brother or working in the local gas station to help her mum pay the bills.
So when she sells a jackpot-winning lottery ticket and the money goes unclaimed, Rico thinks that maybe her luck has changed. If she can find the ticket holder and reunite them with the cash, hopefully she will get a cut of the winnings.
So, enlisting the help of an unlikely ally in her popular, wildly rich (and annoyingly handsome) classmate Zan, Rico sets out to hunt down the missing millionaire. But what happens when have and have-nots collide? Will this investigative duo unite...or divide as they search for the missing ticket?
Book of the week
This is an unusual tale which seems like a quest to find a winning lottery ticket but actually isn't about that at all, it's easy to get invested in the characters and we learn all about their lives and struggles, and even the seemingly 'obvious' romance between our two good-looking, charismatic and charming leads doesn't really move in obvious ways. The ending may leave you reeling with frustration that it all works out a bit too well for our newly-minted young people or be charmed by the fairy tale-ness of it all! This is the author's third novel (I've only read two of them) but her dynamic characters really do have a unique spark.
