Summary

A young boy sets out to rescue his kidnapped father, accompanied by a pony and a ghost.

When Silas Bird wakes in the dead of night, he watches powerlessly as three strangers take his father away. Silas is left shaken, scared and alone, except for the presence of his companion, Mittenwool... who happens to be a ghost. But then a mysterious pony shows up at his door, and Silas knows what he has to do. So begins a perilous journey to find his father - a journey that will connect him with his past, his future, and the unknowable world around him.

Book of the week

The bonds we create, human or animal, are beautifully explored and you really resonate with the characters. Multi layered, a strong spiritual/photography theme adds to the mix. It's a raw, captivating, generous story and you get a lot out of it. A fantastic read.

Content advisory

The main character is sensitive and can see ghosts. His best friend is a ghost/imagined friend but there is nothing scary regarding this in the story. There is a gun fight where some characters get hurt and some die but the description is mild.
