From Monday 18th May 2020, we will have a reduced team in our offices and warehouse and are therefore able to dispatch goods. We have been accepting orders over the past six weeks and will start to work through the pipeline in date sequence, although supply may be a little slower than normal.

Summary

An American girl visits her British relatives for the summer, and is just experiencing her first major romance when a global war breaks out and disrupts all their lives

Fifteen-year-old New Yorker Daisy thinks she knows all about love. Her mother died giving birth to her, and now her dad has sent her away for the summer, to live in the English countryside with cousins she's never even met.

There she'll discover what real love is: something violent, mysterious and wonderful. There her world will be turned upside down and a perfect summer will explode into a million bewildering pieces.

How will Daisy live then?

NOTE: The publisher's originally intended that there would be a Puffin edition (for teens) and a Penguin edition (for adults). However the Puffin edition cover was preferred and in the end only one edition (the Penguin one) was published. This book has a Penguin colophon and the front cover states Shortlisted for the Orange Prize for new writers, whilst the children's honours (Winner of the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize and shortlisted for the Whitbread Children's and the British Book Awards' Children's Book of the Year) are tucked away on the inside back cover.

NOTE: Winner of the Branford Boase Award & Guardian Children's Fiction Award 2005.
