Summary

A boy embarks upon a journey into space to save his sister who has mysteriously disappeared.

A small village in the wilds of Northumberland is rocked by the disappearance of twelve-year-old Tammy. Only her twin brother, Ethan, knows she is safe - and the extraordinary truth of where she is. It is a secret he must keep, or risk never seeing her again.

But that doesn't mean he's going to give up.

Together with his friend Iggy and the mysterious (and very hairy) Hellyann, Ethan teams up with a spaceship called Philip, and Suzy the trained chicken, for a nail-biting chase to get his sister back... that will take him further than anyone has ever been before.

NOTE : Ethan's mother suffers a nervous breakdown after Tammy goes missing. Young children pretend to drink alcohol.

Book of the week

A real treat of a book that really well contrasts the stresses and mental health issues associated with a missing child with the ludicrous idea of an alien abduction and makes it all seem believable and relevant.

There are many elements at play here: sibling love and rivalry; friendship; environmental; wellbeing.

With no exception, all of the characters have real depth and are engaging, even the most minor ones. As such, the emotional impact is keenly felt.

It also has the best chicken character in all of literature!

Absolutely everyone should read this.
