Summary

A boy embarks upon a journey into space to save his sister who has mysteriously disappeared.

A small village in the wilds of Northumberland is rocked by the disappearance of twelve-year-old Tammy. Only her twin brother, Ethan, knows she is safe - and the extraordinary truth of where she is. It is a secret he must keep, or risk never seeing her again.

But that doesn't mean he's going to give up.

Together with his friend Iggy and the mysterious (and very hairy) Hellyann, Ethan teams up with a spaceship called Philip, and Suzy the trained chicken, for a nail-biting chase to get his sister back... that will take him further than anyone has ever been before.

NOTE : Ethan's mother suffers a nervous breakdown after Tammy goes missing. Young children pretend to drink alcohol.

Book of the week

A real treat of a book that well contrasts the emotional and mental health impacts of a missing child with the ludicrousness of an alien abduction and makes it believable and relevant.

There are many elements to this book: sibling love and rivalry; the nature of friendship; and the frustration of not being believed. It also touches on the environmental and the zoological.

Without exception, all of the characters - even the most minor - are well drawn and are engaging.

It also has the best chicken character in all of literature!

An absolute must for all book shelves.
