National education charity Achievement for All is holding the country’s biggest one-week reading challenge, Ten Million Minutes, which is taking place 9-15th March 2017.

The competition is open to ALL primary schools in England and is completely free to take part. All schools have to do is register on the Achievement for All website, and encourage their pupils to read for as many minutes as they can during the one-week competition. The school which reads for the highest average number of minutes by the end of the week could win the prize.

There are also some fabulous runner-up prizes: three £250 vouchers to spend on primary resources with Oxford University Press, five bundles of Nu: notebooks and filing products courtesy of Nuco International Ltd and 20 sticker packs courtesy of The Sticker Factory.

Achievement for All is one of a coalition of charities leading the Read On. Get On. campaign to see every child reading well by the age of 11 by 2025. We hope the Ten Million Minutes challenge will encourage more children to read, and for longer, both at home and at school. Research shows just ten minutes a day makes a huge difference to a child’s progress. Essentially, children who read succeed!

Together, let’s smash our target of Ten Million Minutes!
